What are your top 5 favorite movies?

Like the title says, I just thought it would be nice for everyone to get to know each others taste of movies based on their top 5. You can also list honorable mentions (movies you just like but couldn't put in order) if you want, and recommend movies to other people.

I shall go first:

TOP 5:
1. Ghostbusters
Why: Who doesn't love this movie? Honestly. Show me the person who hates Ghostbusters. They don't exist. If they do exist they should be killed.

2. Back to the Future
Why: This movie is a classic and will never get old. It's literally perfect. They don't make 'em like this anymore. If I ever become rich I'm building a delorian just like the one in this movie. It's my perfect car to have.

3. Evil Dead II
Why: Only the best horror movie ever made! Unless you actually want your horror movies to be scary, that is. Personally, really no horror movie has ever scared me besides The Exorcist, so it doesn't matter if the movie isn't frightening at all, as long as its cool. And this movie is quidessentially the coolest fun horror movie of all time. It turned Bruce Campbell into a house hold name. Some people say Army of Darkness is superior but I say no dice. "Workshed." That's all I'm gonna say to that.

4. Big Trouble in Little China
Why: During the 80's John Carpenter was the man. I don't know of anyone besides Speilberg who had more back to back great movies in a row. First you had Halloween, then The Fog and Escape from New York and then he rolled out this baby. Big Trouble in Little China is a movie I grew up, taped from "Fox Night at the Movies". I literally didn't even know the movie opened up with the Grandpa from 3 Ninjas giving a narratation since my copy started taping when Jack Burton was riding into town in his truck. Actually I kind of prefer it that way, but whatever. This is a must see movie and has just about everything crammed into it. It leaves you saying "This is gonna take cracker jack timing, Wang."

5. King Kong vs. Godzilla
Why: Even though its horribly cheesy, and pretty much stole the music from The Creature from the Black Lagoon, this is an incredibly fun monster movie from the hayday of Godzilla films. King Kong has grown 10X his size for some reason, and gets stronger by electricity for some other reason, but still manages to have one of the greatest fights ever filmed in "Tohoscope". Something about guys in monster suits never gets old. Eat that Cloverfield. Anyway, I give it four stars, check it out, but make sure you realize your allowed to laugh at it because it was made for children and in the 60's.

Honorable Mentions: Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Batman, Grindhouse: Planet Terror, Better Off Dead (kind of reminds me of Scott Pilgrim), Transformers, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Lost Boys, Robocop, Aliens, First Blood.

I tend to like the 80's movies the best, but love all the old school monster flicks. I'm probably one of the few people who is obsessed with Godzilla movies and loves the cheese factor in them. I love serious movies too but generally stick to things that have a "cool!!" factor. The 80's though was really the best generation for fun movies. I really recommend grindhouse movies from the 70's as well as movies so bad they are great, like "Ricky Oh: The Story of Ricky" and "Zombi 3".

So lets hear what you guys have to say!!

"Boy, it sure is rainin' cats and dogs..."

So I guess the "I don't even want to talk about it" part didn't show up on your screen, eh?

You can get the latest updates on the Silent Hill Movie War by looking at Jimmy Mill's and I's comments. I didn't think our conversation needed to take up space on the forum page; because, no one else probably cares.
also it is the idea of the superhero everyone knows who Batman, Superman & Spiderman are, your getting more the just the fan base
also Batman & Superman movies were mad like a decade o so ago they started off good but then turned into crap over time so they stopped making them
now it has been a long enough time for people to forget what shitty movies he last ones were, & are ready to take cash out of their wallets again until the industry exhausts the characters & give them a rest for another decade (meanwhile pumping out video game movies) until people are willing to line up & empty their pockets for it

it is all about profit

your too much of an 80's movie fan, personally there are so many fantastic great films that came before and after, & so many of the people replying to this thread are saying the same things isn't there a 30's horror film fan on this site?! in the misfits hybrid moments music video they show a bunch of clips from old horror movies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP7wHOHYCdc ) is there no Marilyn Monroe fans here?
i don't know it kinda seems pointless when we all watch the same movies here (including myself)
don't ya think?
(i also forgot to add Dead Leaves to my top list)

Yes, I love all the Universal Monster movies, I watch them all the time. I'm willing to watch any horror movie if its at least sort of creative. I'm an Ed Wood fan, I love the cheesy creature feature type movies of the 50's. They don't even have to be "great' as long as there is something entertaining about it then I'm down.

Not a Marilyn Monroe fan, sorry.

I think i enjoyed "some like it hot" way too much
i like how she is like the poster face for beauty, & today she would be considered plus-size

"Some Like It Hot" was a great movie.

And yes, she would be. Which is rediculous because she is a fine weight and size. People just suck butt.

i just watched "Willy Wanka and the Chocolate factory" a bit ago for the first time since I was like eight years old. IT WAS AWESOME!! I recommend it. Still a awesome movie.

If I remember correctly "Court Jester" is a funny old movie too. It's in color, but it's still considered 'old'.

1. The Rules of the Game - French Film by Jean Renoir... Funny as hell and still one of the most moving films I've ever seen.

2. Casablanca - It's Casablanca... I mean, come on.

3. Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - I love this movie... The best political satire ever made.

4. The Godfather - One of the best made best acted films i've ever seen. it would be higher on the list if i had more of an emotional connection that I do have with the three above.

5. The Silence of the Lambs - In my oppinion the best suspense/thriller ever made.
