What common conventions of video games do you dislike?
Mine include:
1. bottomless pits
2. invisible walls (like in a lot of 3d games)
2b. low yet insurmountable barriers which in reality you could simply step over or jump up and pull yourself over (but your suped up character cannot)
3. death touch. all enemies no matter how harmless [stupid mushrooms] will kill you or make you lose energy by simply touching them (mainly in 2d games).
4. tedious collect-a-thons. 3d platformers are particularly guilty of this where you have to collect massive amounts of gems, stars or whatever to access new levels.
5. button mashing minigames.
6. unskippable cutscenes
6b. overly long cutscenes
7. Controllable characters that move a lot slower than they should given their occupation. (ie Belmont, Shinobi)
8. Forced in game tutorial. Probably a matter of preference but I'd rather the tutorial be completely separate and optional.

all what you said and:
9. Long ass loading (ex. Sonic the Hedgechog for the PS3, super long ass loading screen for two second cutscenes, so stoopid)
10. Ridonkulously hard tasks to earn trophies (PS3)
11. When you get a bad connection to the wi-fi and when your playin a shooting game online or GTA IV and it skips when you walk or run or freezes temporarily makin it easier for other to kill you.
12. Considerably bad graphics for next-gen console systems (get with the program you stoopid developers!)
13. Short games that are overpriced and expensive
14. Bad gameplay (ex. im goin to shoot this guy in the head....oh hes not dead...ohh...now he just shot me in the head and im dead..hmmm...thats bs...)
14b. Controls that dont sync up with the game
Ok guys keep thi goin with 15 and up so we can see how many faults gaming has!
16: respawning enemies; sometimes I can forgive, but when you need to go through various places to get items that connect to each other and eery enemy is just respawned every fucking time you go in there.
17: enemies not flinching; in Prototype, whenever you for someone, they didn't even react, they just took damage and carried on.
18: enemies that all look alike; I mean humans, I can deal with monsters being the same. But if I'm shooting 5 people in the same room and they all have the same face, I feel a bit weird.
25: Crappy Camera angles., or a Camera that gets stuck behind/walls/boxes/crates etc., Non Manual Camera control in games that should have Manual Camera Control.
26. i guess this is sort of similar to 6 and 6b, (and 7) but i hate how when you're just like playing legend of zelda or some other RPG on your friend's gameboy and you just want to play for like 10 minutes to pass the time, it makes you go through the story and tutorial and stuff if you start a new file
