Jer is awesome. He's one of the oldest guys on the site, but he is one of the coolest guys I know. He has a comprehensive knowledge of everything cool or nerdy, from sci-fi to fantasy, and amazing books like SP. I respect the man a great deal, and hope that when I become older, I'm half as cool as he is.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I am touched. This board has the highest ratio of decent folks I have ever seen.
Thanks to Tommy, Jenn, Soundwave, Cody, Ramona, Steven, Casey, Danny, Jonaas, Anthony, Triplea, Ben, Envy, Christian, Keiichi-chan and all the rest of y'all who have kept this Ning thing interesting over the years.
And most importantly, thanks to Mr. O'Malley for creating these books that brought everyone to this site. It is a real thrill to be able to talk directly to someone whose work you love.

Since everyone loves my kids so much, here is the latest way I expoited them for my own entertainment. We filmed a 15 second scene for the Star Wars Uncut project.
Maybe we should put something like this together for Scott Pilgrim, split the books up into 3 page chunks and have different people film their versions of it. We could have a movie done before Edgar! ;-p
See, this is exactly why I can't wait to have children!! You deserve a Nobel Prize for this, Jer.
That Scott Pilgrim thing is a great idea, but maybe instead of filming it, everybody draws 3-4 pages and we make a Ning book of Vol 1..? And yes I am suggesting this knowing that I can't draw
i would be THRILLED to do little cut scenes, in film preferably, but the drawing one could be interesting, too, since i have mediocre abilities in that area..
and congrats, by the way. i'm afraid we've never really conversed through threads or via the nifty chat feature. but any father who has the sense to have his children do anything star wars related is about as awesome and awesome can get. kudos!

There are still some Star Wars scenes available for filming at Starwarsuncut.com, you should try your hand at some of them. Maybe when things calm down at the homefront a bit I will attempt some Scott Pilgrim scenes. The kids have got the fighting bit down, just need to teach them to play bass badly...
what do you film them on? i have a flipHD, so i think that's going to be what i end up using. the editing feature is weak, though. i guess they'd have to be in camera edits or just continuous shots...
i'll definitely check out the site above. good luck teaching your kids to play bass... or not play bass, as it were.

I just have a little Sony camcorder, I use Premiere to edit my little videos but for less than a $100 you can get Adobe Premiere Elements which will let you do most basic things the full-version of Premiere does (plus it comes with Photoshop Elements which is fine for most folks editing needs and it has a decent photo album feature).
Both Windows and Mac come with video editing software that you can get that will do simple stuff for you.
You should see the crazy videos that are up on that Starwarsuncut site, it runs the entire spectrum of video possibilities: professional quality film to super-crappy video, action-figures in front of crayon backgrounds, stop-motion animation, hand-drawn animation, etc. It is neat project. I could definitely see more of this type of community thing happening in the future...
