So anywho, this was a great idea. I mean, I don't know if we can talk to a comic store and see if they'll do a midnight event for us (I know some guys...), or maybe we can just pick up our books and meet after we read them to discuss or something?

But it would be a great idea.

It would also be awesome if a certain writer showed up, wouldn't it Mr. O'malley (WINK WINK)?

Well if I remember correctly, BLOM's last LA appearance was at Meltdown (missed it...cuz I was working at goddamn Nordstroms at the time). So I'm guessing another LA appearance would be based on whether or not the last appearance was successful and well-attended. Did anybody on Ning check it out?

I was looking at Flickr photos of the NY party and it looked like they were all having a grand ol' time, sipping on (presumably) champagne or wine with a line out the door. I could call up my hook-ups at the Edison downtown to reserve a date and hopefully fill a bar with a group of uncomfortable minors all clutching comics.

I'd be interested in that. I mean, by then I'd actually be fully legal anyway (though still unable to drink).

The only ones we'd have to worry about here at least are Ian and Michelle. I think most of us are already adults. But I'd want to include them no matter what.

It could be an all-ages thing at a small club...and wristbands could be provided for the drunks! Ultimately, Oni would have to set this up, but it'd be real cool if it wasn't just a book release, but an actual concert as well! The first hour or so can be drinking, smoozing, and meeting other Scott fans while BLOM does a mini-signing. The last three hours can be good ol' fashioned live music. BLOM could perform a Kupek set and maybe a Plumtree cover band could show up. Maybe some of the more musically inclined Scott fans out there can start learning cover versions of BLOM's official Scott playlist.

If this proposed concert was in a Sunset joint like The Roxy, it'd probably be about 15 to 20 bucks a head to get in, but shit, I'd pay that to see a good show and be the first to own the book (as well as getting a shot of an EXCLUSIVE LA only shirt)! That would seriously be amazing. When the release date gets closer, I'll start writing to Oni about the prospects of an LA party and talk to some of my buddies who've gigged before for advice on how to book a club.

If we're talking about a small joint like The Roxy or The Troubadour, a successful gig would be about 450 fans. If we can dig up 450 LA Scottaholics to pledge their 15 to 20 bucks (or 225 fans and their +1's), I'm pretty sure BLOM or Oni would definitely consider it. I mean, shit, not only do they make a pretty penny on the door, they instantly sell 400-500 copies of the book immediately AND a couple hundred shirts, stickers, and posters.

The more I talk about this, the more it seems like a reality. I KNOW there are tons of Southern California based Scott fans...but as far as Ningers are concerned, it's basically you, me, Ian, Michelle, Richard, Jamie, and young Morgan.

Alright, I got a year of Nursing left and I estimate that it'll be about a year before Vol. 6 is out. In my free time, I'm gonna dig up all the Southern California fans and get this party started.

Look, I imagine this thing to be just over or under a years time away am desperate to go to America as is, and I would def apppricate someone putting me up while I came over. I mean, I wouldn't expect a free ride, I'd pay something at least, you know? and I wouldn't stay long or anything.

Well, I know for a fact that I'm good for at least 15 people. If we all pulled our collective strength together and tracked down everyone we know who'd be interested, flyer-bomb comic stores and venue bathrooms, I think we can get 400 people to go. And anyways, we've got a year. I'm so fucking down to get this going, it's silly.
